Information/ Computer/ Telecom Specialist - Intermediate

Jacobs is looking for talented individuals to join our team for DISA's Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) supporting the upcoming Test, Evaluation, and Certification (TEC) contract. We are seeking current/former incumbents who are/or have supported the current JITC T&E MSS IDIQ contract (at Fort Huachuca, AZ and Fort Meade, MD), as well as any candidates who have skill sets that can support the full spectrum of IT communication systems and software test and evaluation.
Performs technical assignments in the general areas of C5ISR, AIS, and IT/NSS, applying broad technical knowledge in one or more areas on specific systems or applications. Work requires knowledge of customary approaches, techniques, and requirements appropriate to the assigned C5ISR, AIS, and IT/NSS, including legacy systems and latest trends in related technologies. Requires specialized experience in evaluating, analyzing, maintaining, managing, or improving telecommunications system performance. Follows specific layout and diagrams to construct, implement, and operate devices and subunits of equipment. Ensures uninterrupted access to all telecommunication features in support of T&E efforts. Designs, develops, and tests telecommunications software solutions. Reviews, analyzes, develops, installs, and modifies computer operating systems. Analyzes and resolves problems associated with operating systems. Interprets manufacturer manuals or similar documents. Detects, diagnoses, and reports related problems. Provides user training of the telecommunications features and functionality. Makes suggestions to end users regarding communications software and hardware solutions. Provides documentation/project tracking and management reporting. Coordinates upgrade specifications and schedules with internal or external users and ensures proper integration. Provides tactical and strategic input to overall network planning and related projects.
This labor category includes personnel who provide IT support in areas where capabilities may be gained primarily through extensive on-the-job experience, specialized formal Government training, or institutional training and certification. On-the-job experience must be in specific IT fields.
Must be familiar with a variety of the IT field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a project leader, supervisor, or manager. Must be adept at problem solving, identifying risk, and communicating results and recommendations to department management.
The candidate will be responsible for performing server maintenance to include retrieving server ?les for diagnostic purposes and tuning applications to enhance performance.
The candidate will be responsible for configuration management to track current hardware/software versions and will create ?le server directories for the storage of Con?guration files.
The candidate will perform routine backups of individual devices to include routers, switches, servers, and desktops.
The candidate will be responsible for archiving and reviewing system logs to support diagnosing discrepancies.
Requires a Bachelor's degree; an Associate's degree at least 6 years of experience; a minimum of 60 semester hours of formal education working towards an Associate's or Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of experience; or at least 12 years of experience is required.
Requires at least 1 certification in area of specialization.
Additional certifications in the area of specialization may be substituted for 1 year of experience. The degree must be in a relevant technical curriculum and experience must be related to the job duties.
Acceptable degree specialties include but are not limited to the following: Information Technology,Mathematics, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, and various engineering and science disciplines.
Related certifications in the area of specialization may be substituted for 1 year of experience. Examples of relevant Government or industry training include, but are not limited to, applicable DAWIA, SPRDE, and United States Federal or DoD school training and certification on a specific system, network, or technology.
This position will require a security clearance at the Secret level.
Candidate should have experience working in a heterogeneous environment that includes multiple versions of Microsoft Windows (client and server), Solaris, HP-UX, VMware, and Linux operating systems.
Candidate should have experience with Citrix and SPS test experience.
Candidate should have experience installing, con?guring and maintaining a small Citrix farm.
Candidate must have experience managing, con?guring and installing multiple versions of routing and switching technologies including but not limited to Cisco, Alcatel, Mikrotik, and Dell.
Candidate has experience managing, con?guring and installing hardware required to repair, upgrade routers, switches, modems, servers, desktops and raid arrays.
The candidate should have experience updating server configuration ?les which contain parameters affecting the system functionality.
The candidate should have experience performing database backup and restore
Candidate should have experience with Information Assurance Management to include keeping all systems compliant with IA requirements including security requirements guides (SRGs), security technical implementation guides (STIG), and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) within the SPS test environment.
Candidate should have experience conducting Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scans on test environment systems and drafting mitigation strategies for unresolved vulnerabilities.
The candidate should have experience creating, installing, and running command line scripts for ?le transfers.
The candidate should have experience creating scripts to schedule periodic system jobs or notify users of policy requirements
Candidate should have experience with account management to set up end-user SPS accounts and access.
The candidate should have experience supporting an IT Help Desk that will function during normal business, and should be prepared to provide after-hours support for critical outages.
Candidates should have experience working with trouble ticket software to field, track, and respond to user support requests.
Essential Functions:
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require filing, typing, and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, included but not limited to: bending, reaching, turning and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required.
Work Environment
An inside and outside environment (considerations: closed quarters, close together, lighting). Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions.
Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work related tools as required.
Attendance
Core work hours will be between 9:00 a.m. ? 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Other Essential Functions
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers. Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer's locations and the test fields may be required to support projects. This may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can possibly be made for POV, if necessary. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
